For a political junkie, this campaign season has got to be like Christmas morning. No, better. This has got to more akin to actually meeting the real Santa Clause on Christmas morning. Hillary Clinton certainly has brought 30+ years of her baggage to the campaign which should give columnists and pundits plenty to talk about but they are really not able to focus. Chuckles the clown on the other side of the aisle seems to dominate one news cycle after another and we are front row spectators to what might be the greatest public meltdown in history. There are reports coming out of the Trump campaign that staffers are “suicidal” and that campaign manager Paul Manafort is “phoning it in”. The GOP is furious at Trump for not endorsing Republican stalwart John McCain and top Republican Paul Ryan in their respective primary elections and the campaign is way off message assuming they even have one. There are discussions in an outside of the party what the procedure would be if Trump decides to be Trump and withdraw from the race. Trump continues to pick fights with true American heroes, federal judges, young mothers and just about anyone who dares to criticize him and against that backdrop, Trump tweets this morning that the campaign is more unified than ever. It would be laughable if it weren’t so sad. Kudos to Lawrence O’Donnell for the attempt last night on his show to lay out a case for Donald Trump’s personality disorder. For those of us who have been paying attention to “the Donald” for years, we don’t need convincing of the obvious and those supporting Trump probably don’t watch MSNBC. So nice try Lawrence but I’m afraid it was a gutter ball.
I keep hearing about “a bridge too far” and once Donald crosses it, he will endure the wrath of the Republican establishment as if that is some kind of a deterrent. Hello, wake up GOP establishment, you are the reason this clown is in the position he is in. Your endorsement or scorn is irrelevant among Trump supporters. The “bridge” to which you refer has been breached over and over again but you keep extending the line. Please don’t turn against “the Donald” because I fear if you do, he would experience a bounce in the polls that would further embolden this narcissistic, xenophobic, ego-maniacal clown you have as your standard bearer.
